How VisaKnot works

In shortVisaKnot works in four steps: (1) follow a generic document checklist, (2) scan and securely store each document, (3) track your passport and visa expiry dates, and (4) export one indexed PDF bundle. It organises your evidence — it does not give immigration advice.

1. Follow a generic checklist

VisaKnot starts you with a generic checklist built from publicly published GOV.UK document categories for family and spouse routes. You tick items off as you collect them, and you can add your own. The checklist is the same for everyone — it does not tailor documents to your personal circumstances, so you should always confirm the exact requirements for your route on GOV.UK.

2. Scan & keep your documents

Using the phone app, you photograph or scan each document straight into your own private locker. Files are stored with encryption at rest and are only accessible from your account. Keeping everything in one place means no lost paperwork and no scrambling at the last minute.

3. Track passport & visa expiry

Add the expiry dates of your passport, visa and BRP, and VisaKnot shows a clear valid / expiring-soon / expired status and reminds you well before each date. See the expiry tracker for detail.

4. Export one indexed PDF bundle

When you are ready, a single click compiles your documents into one tidy PDF with an index or contents page, in a sensible order — ready to keep for yourself or hand to a regulated adviser.
