About VisaKnot — and the person who built it

This page is here so you know who is behind it. English is not my first language, so I keep everything here in plain words.

Who am I?

I went through the UK spouse visa process myself. I moved here from Pakistan, and my wife, who was born in Britain, was my sponsor. So I have seen both sides of it — the person applying, and the person in the UK sponsoring.

Around sixteen or seventeen of my close family and friends have been through the same UK family or spouse visa paperwork, one cousin recently.

Why I built VisaKnot

What I remember is not the law. It is the paper.

• A solicitor asked me for bank statements. Finding them all, and putting them in order, was hard work.
• I had to sit down and reconstruct my travel history — where I had been, and when.
• Foreign transactions had to be dug out and accounted for, one by one.
• The fees were high.

I am describing my own experience, nothing more. I am not telling you what you will be asked for. That depends on your own circumstances, and it is a question for GOV.UK or a properly registered adviser — not for me.

None of that was a legal problem. It was an organising problem. But when it matters this much to your family, it does not feel small. A regulated adviser is the right person for the legal side. The organising was the part I could have done better myself, so I built a tool for it.

What does VisaKnot actually do?

Four plain things. A generic checklist of document types, drawn from publicly published GOV.UK document categories — the same for everyone, and not a list of what you personally need. Scan & keep, so a photo of a document goes into your own private locker, encrypted at rest. Expiry reminders for your passport, visa or BRP. And one indexed PDF bundle you can export, organised by checklist item.

That is the whole product: a tidy drawer for your documents, with a reminder clock above it.

What VisaKnot does not do

• It does not tell you which documents apply to you, how many you need, or covering what period — only GOV.UK or a regulated adviser can say that.
• It does not tell you whether you qualify, and it never recommends a visa route.
• It does not read or check your documents, and it cannot say whether what you have is enough.
• It does not fill in or submit your application.
• It cannot make an application more likely to succeed. VisaKnot plays no part in the decision.

I am not regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority or the SRA, and I do not advise on anyone's case. For any of that you need someone who is registered.

Who is legally responsible for VisaKnot?

VisaKnot is run by JETMEAWAY LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17140522 — you can look it up on the public Companies House register. The company is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZC125217. I am a director of the company.

The company is UK based, documents are stored encrypted at rest, and UK GDPR applies. You can delete a single document, or your whole account, from inside the app. More detail is in the privacy policy and the terms.

I am telling you my name and my company number on purpose. If something here is wrong, or reads like advice when it should not, please tell me through the contact page.
